About Foundry and Forge:
A foundry is a factory that produces metal castings. Metals are cast into shapes by melting them into a liquid, pouring the metal into a mold, and removing the mold material after the metal has solidified as it cools. The most common metals processed are aluminum and cast iron.
Forging is the manufacturing process of hammering, pressing or rolling metal into shape. This is either delivered from a hammer, press or die. It is essentially the art of heating and working hot metal to design or shape that is fit for a specific purpose or use. Forging can be categorized by the temperature at which it’s performed, such as cold, warm, or hot forging.
Abount NIAMT:
Advanced Diploma in Foundry Technology and Advanced Diploma in Forge Technology are provided by National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (NIAMT), Ranchi, which is the only one Institute to provide such a course in India. The Institute was earlier known was National Institute of Foundry & Forge Technology (NIFFT), which was set up by the Govt. of India in 1966.
NIAMT, Ranchi has become a Deemed to be University under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
About Courses:
The objective of these courses is to develop personnel suitable for the fast growing Foundry and Forge industries in the country. The course is industry-oriented and is designed to impart professional specialization in the concerned fields. The programme has been designed to provide adequate exposure to the students in all the subjects relevant to Foundry Technology and Forge Technology through lectures, laboratory and workshop practices, seminars, technical film shows and extensive training in industries.
Students admitted to the courses are paid monthly stipend of Rs. 3,000/- for the entire duration of the course. The Fee Structure for the course is also resonably low.
The courses are imparted by the Institute since 1966 and have a decent track record of almost 100% campus placement over the years.
